I read an article online about a Japanese company named Rakuten that sells USB cat tail flash drives. Not real cat. Some other animal. Supposedly. ;-) I thought it was hilarious and e-mailed the link to all of my friends. The more I thought about it, though, the more I liked the idea -- albeit in a sick and twisted way.
Since I no longer have my cat's tail -- or any other part of her, for that matter -- I decided to make my own. I figured that if I didn't want to use the drive to store data, I could always use the tail to sweep the keyboard.

Spare USB flash drive? Check! BUT WHERE CAN I GET A TAIL??!!
I found a company online called Maine-Line Leather that sells fur tails. And guess what? Lynx tails look EXACTLY like regular pussycat tails! Even though the website says "Tails may vary" (LOL) I added the following note to my order, anyway:
TAIL COLOR PREFERENCE: (haha) preferably similar to the one that's on the far left in your lynx tail photo. That one looks like my dearly-departed kitty's tail! :-) Thanks!
I got a reply back, which said:
Hi, I tried to match as close as I could.

A week later the tail arrived, packaged in a very small padded envelope. The tail was kinda stubby and shorter than I thought it would be. I imagined lynx were larger, like ocelots. Perhaps this was a lynx kitten? (This is all so wrong, I know.) So, I surfed on over to the lynx entry on that be-all end-all SOURCE OF ALL THINGS EVERYWHERE, Wikipedia! ;-)
And whattaya know! The first sentence under "Appearance" says, "Lynx have short tails..." Whoops. Guess I picked the wrong cat!
So, here it is, my very own USB (stubby) cat tail flash drive, plugged into my laptop!
